Nobrowhood is the title of the exhibition organised and curated by Treviso Comic Book Festival 2016 at Ca’ dei Carraresi. The exhibition introduces the art of five illustrators working at Nobrow, an independent graphic arts publishing company based in Shoreditch, London. Some of them also published their works with Flying Eye Books. The set-up has been designed to create an exhibition itinerary, and to optimise the space available in the museum. The context of the historic building did not allow for a classical wall display of the works, so we came up with the idea of using a series of modular tables to take full advantage of the horizontal space. This modular set-up, composed of a structure in natural fir wood and a matte black flat surface, can be easily dismantled, stored and reassembled as and when needed. These five illustrators have extremely diverse styles, which is why the exhibition itinerary becomes a colourful, varied and personal exploration, a real journey within a neighbourhood (the title is a pun: neighbourhood becomes Nobrowhood) where, along the way, the sphere of each artist is marked by vertical elements that provide information on each author and his/her illustrations.
